Last week I went to Cambodia :) and it was an amazing trip... the country is very interesting and there are a lot of cool things to do and to see.... the temples are great and it gives you the feeling on being on the Tomb Raider movie... and also I had the opportunity to see how the Cambodian people live... pictures of the trip are HERE
Tonight is the Mid-Autumm festival, for the ones that does not know it is a chinese tradition... part of this tradition is to get together with the family and eat some special cakes called mooncakes.
I can not believe that one year ago I left Belgium after living there for 3 years... time passes so fast... I still remember the first days when I arrived to Belgium... this picture is when we went to buy our beds in Ikea... and since we did not had a car we carried them in the metro...
This weekend was the celebration of the Singapore National Day.... and it was a very nice celebration specially because there was a party in my office and from there we had a great view of the celebrations that were happening.... but the best is that we had a great view of the fireworks
I have not updated my blog recently, not becuase I am lazy... but because I was not around... I went for holidays in Hong Kong :)
I had an amazing time there... Hong Kong was one of the places I wanted to visit the most...
The trip was very nice but the only bad things was the discrimination I recieved just because I had a Mexican passport... it is just like because I have a Mexican passport I am sick... sometimes I just think that people is very ignorant and stupid...
This Holy week I ahd the opportunity to see Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke live here in Singapore. It was an amazing experience... the atmosphere in the room was amazing... I could not find a video of the Singapore event but I found one of his presentations in Africa.... just take a look at it...
Yesterday I went to see Coldplay live :) and I can say it has been one of the best concerts I have ever been... well it is not as good as being 4 days in Rock Werchter but I think as individual show is one of the best ones...
Since I will not be going to Werchter this year, I am starting to think what will be the next band I see life...
Something I love from my office is the view we have, we have one of the best viewing spots in Singapore of Marina Bay... here are some pictures of the view....
This is the view I get from my desk... I almost never sit there, I like working on the sofas facing Marina Bay :)
Lately I have been very busy with work and I had no time to update my blog... anyway I have been posting things in my twitter (http://twitter.com/pedroadrian) and publishing things on my google reader...
Last year I had my first Chinese New Year celebration, but it was in Belgium... so it was not the real thing, this year that I am in Asia I had my First Chinese New Year in Asia.
It was a great experience... for the Chinese people this is the most important holiday so you can imagine how crazy it gets...
During my trip to KL last week I was able to go to the Petronas Twin Towers. (It used to be the tallest building in the world but it was passed by two new buildings)
Going to the towers was amazing... I saw so many times those towers in pictures or videos...
Last weekend I had my first experience on a cruise and I can say that it was great....
It is different to any other holiday I had experienced before... the food was amazing, there was every time something to do, there was food all the time, the views are just amazing...
And to my surprise you can really do not feel that you are in the ocean, sometimes you can feel the boat shaking a bit but nothing big.
Last weekend after all the Christmas rush, I went to an island that is part of Singapore.
The island is called Pulau Ubin... it is only 10 minutes away from Singapore main Island.
Pulau Ubin is great is an example of how Singapore used to be in the past... everybody in the island is riding a bicycle and also there are many interesting natural things to see.
I really recommend this short day trip if you are around Singapore...
I will like to start this post by wishing Merry Christmas to everybody!!!
For my side I am having my first Christmas in Asia and I am very surprised how things are here, they are very different than in Mexico or Europe... but it is a great experience and I am very happy to be here :)
This weekend I had the opportunity to go to a Christmas Jazz concert and to my surprise one of the performers was Toots Thielemans, he is one of the best musicians in the world...
Toots Thielemans is from Belgium and I got to know who he was during the proud to be Belgian session at one of the AIESEC conferences.
I can say that he is really good, here is a video of one of his performances, so you can see him in action...
If you have been wondering why I have not updated my blog in the past days, here is the reason why... I was facilitator of the National Leadership Development Seminar of AIESEC Singapore.
It was my first conference since I finished my MC term, almost 1 year and a half ago...
The conference was great and the energy and passion that was there was amazing... I had so much fun interacting with the delegates and with the faci team
I do not know if this was my last AIESEC conference but you never know....
I am starting to discover more and more of Singapore and this weekend I had the opportunity to see a Dragon Boat Race, it is like a canoe competition but the boat has a Dragon head in the front.
I also did some sightseeing and I discover more about Singapore. I am really enjoying my time here :)
Another interesting thing I have seen here in Singapore is that they put a lot of attention in protection and security. You can see posters like this one in many places of the city and also in the metro they show some very scary video of some bomb attacks...
Anyway I think all this protections helps make Singapore one of the safest places to be... maybe some other cities should follow the same example...
Last Sunday I went to the horse track here in Singapore, it was nice to see some races and luckily I did not lose so much money :P
The race track was completely different from the rest of Singapore, it seems that all the rules that are outside in the city does not apply, there is so many papers in the floor and people just let the garbage where ever they want...
I have slowly adapting to my new life here in Singapore and one of the most interesting things I have seen are the there are fines for almost everything....
The picture in this post is in the metro and signs like that are everywhere in the city.
I think that is good to have fines for everything since there is nobody doing those illegal things and you can really see that the whole city is clean...
I know that also some many other rules that are a bit strange... I will comment on them as soon as I know more of them
After my long and delayed trip I arrived to Singapore...
I have not seen so many things of the city, but I like what I have seen so far. Everything is so organized and clean. The weather is also fine, not so hot but it is very humid, the good thing is that I have a pool in the building I am living so I go swimming every afternoon...
The picture is the post is the view from the living room of my apartment... very different compared to the Kebab shop view I had in Belgium.
I am still on the way to Singapore, my trip has been a whole experience...
I was supposed to arrive to Singapore two days ago... well first my flight living from Brownsville to Houston was late so that caused me to miss my flight to Tokyo, and since there is only one flight a day... I needed to wait for the next day.
The good thing of this is that I was able to do some sight seeing in Houston.
Then yesterday my flight from Houston to Tokyo was delayed for almost 4 hours because of a technical problem.... so that caused me to miss my connection flight to Singapore.
So for that reason I am now in Tokyo.... fighting with this crazy jet lag and trying to understand something on the TV... all the channels are in Japanese.
I hope that everything goes well today and I can finally arrive to Singapore.
Starting the trip to the other side of the world...
Tomorrow I will be starting my journey to the other side of the world, my flight to Singapore leaves from the USA so I need to go there by car first and then take my almost 20 hours flight to Singapore.
In the next 2 days I will be passing by 4 countries Mexico-USA-Japan-Singapore
I have not updated my blog in a while now... but I have not been doing anything interesting in Mexico, I am just relaxing and enjoying the time with my family.
Tomorrow I am going to the USA, to Texas.... I will be there for a few days and then come back to Mexico and start getting ready for my trip to the other side of the world.
It has been a while since I updated my blog, but the last few days have been extremely busy...
My last days in Belgium where very crazy, I had to many things to do and also the whole packing process took most of my time. I never realized I had so much stuff in my room.... and at the end I needed to put everything on 2 bags of not more than 30 kg each, obviously I was not able to do that and I left lots of things in Belgium...
After my trip back home, I had some jet lag here in Mexico and I was not in the mood to write anything... today it is time to start over again and start planning what do to in the next weeks.
I just came back from London, I went there for a few days and it was a great experience...
The whole trip had ups and downs... I experienced some amazing things but also some very sad things...
I guess that is how life works... anyway I think I learned a lot for all those experiences and now I am ready for the next challenge... in 3 days I go back home and after I go to my next challenge, Singapore.
For the last year I have been working at ABN AMRO here in Belgium, but like everything that starts needs to come to an end... I finish my job there last Friday...
This was the first job after leaving AIESEC and I can say it was a great experience, I really enjoyed working there and it gave me the opportunity to learn a lot of new things and meet some amazing people.
Now I am ready for the next challenge...
btw the picture on this post was the view I had from my computer for almost a whole year
This weekend was a long weekend in Belgium and I can say that I loved it, it is so nice just to have some days of and relax... I need to study for my exams that start next week, but still I need to relax.
So in order to relax, I went to a SPA and I went to it on the city of Spa, believe it or not there is a city here in Belgium named Spa, I think the first Spa in the world was there and that is the reason why all the Spa's in the world have that name.
Anyway it was the first time I was in one SPA and I can say it was a great feeling, it is so nice just to relax and to enjoy life... I also had the opportunity to experience many new things that I will never forget....
The rest of the weekend was also amazing and I really had a lot of fun, this weekend was the very famous flower carpet in Brussels, so I went to see it, they made the flower carpet every two years... I have been lucky enough to see it already twice.
The process of the ending of my life in Belgium is getting closer and closer.... for the people that do not know I am thinking on leaving Belgium, I am tired of leaving here and I am getting to comfortable... I am missing the excitement of being in a new place and discover new places...
For now my plan looks like this: I am leaving Belgium in the middle of September, I will go to Mexico to visit my family and enjoy some holidays there and then I will move to the next step in my life... and that step is to move to ASIA :)
I think that after living in Europe and America the next place I will like to experience is Asia. It is a bit hard to find a job at the moment in Asia (I am trying very hard but without any luck), so my plan is just to go there and establish in a country (the most probable destination is Singapore) and then search for job once I am there. I am getting a lot of contacts there, so that will make the process a bit easier.
I know some people might be thinking that I am crazy but I really want to do this in my life, I am still young and I can do some crazy things... the worst thing that can happen is that I am in Asia and I can not find a job but at least I will travel and discover new countries :) .
Well this is just the tentative plan, I can get a job offer and they might want me to start ASAP so the trip to Mexico might be postponed, but I do not know it is just expectations...
Lets see what will happen in the future... I am not nervous, I am getting excited of the future...
Another weekend passed and again many things happen...
I went to a festival in Gent (very nice experience), I had a great mexican lunch, I had a great goodbye dinner, I went with Michelle to church, I studied for my upcoming exams....
To many things that at the end of the weekend I finish even more tired...
Well now again is Monday and it is time to work....
ps. The picture on this post was one of the stages of the festival in Gent, it was very cool to have the stage just over the river :P
I went to Rotterdam, the main purpose of my trip was to attend the RedBull Air Race... but also this weekend was the traditional AI transition party.
Both events were amazing, it was great to see all the airplaines flying and making all those achrobatics... it is just amazing to see them and also just to listen to the sound of the engines.
The AI transition party was also good, I went only to the Handover party on Saturday night and it was great to see so many old friends :) and catch up with them.

This weekend it was the anniversary of the battle of Waterloo. Every year there is a representation of the battle so you are able to live that experience.
Unfortunatelly I was not able to see the battle, but I saw the preparation for it. I love history to visit so historic places and when there is something special like this happening I enjoy it even more.
It is also funny that in my 3 years in Belgium I never went to Waterloo...
3 years ago, I came to live in Belgium, it has been a great experience :)
I do not know if I will be here for a 4 year.... but life is full of unexpected things so you never know.
I was reading my blog from the time I arrive to Belgium and I will like to share with you what I wrote that time
June 22, 2005
After an almost 11 hours trip I finally arrived to Belgium :) Some highlights of my trip - It was sad to leave my family again for one year, so it was sad to leave them in Tampico - My stayed of 5 hours in Mexico City Aiport was cool, first Mariana and Cecilia went to visit me (as I already mention on my last post) and then Cindy, Kike and Fabian came so it was also great to see them there. - Airplaine travel was ok but i could not sleep well - Stay in Amsterdam of 2 hours nothing interesting happend
- Flight Amsterdam - Brussels was really fast 20 min trip they where giving the drinks when we were already going down. - Arrive to Brussels it was cool, people went to pick me up (30 min late but it was cool), after that we took all my stuff to Paola and Christoph place where I will stay until 1 of July when I will move to the appartment After my trip it was my first afternoon on Brussels, we went to pick up Vicky a girl from UK that will be MC Ceeder and also she is my roomate for the first 2 weeks. Then we went to a gyro place that was nice. Today me, Kevin and Vicky are going to a conference on the European Parlament so I think it will be real cool That is all for now, I think I still have jetlag... Pedro
Now that Europe is again crazy for soccer, thanks for the Eurocup. I remember that during the last Eurocup I was also living in Europe, I was in Germany studying.
I remember that the whole country was crazy for the Eurocup and even in school we were having food in the cafeteria according to the teams that were playing that night. Also every night there was a party in our dorm in order to see the games...
Now that I am in Belgium I can see that people care for the cup, but not the same way as in Germany, maybe it is because the Belgium team is not in the cup and they are kind of bad...
Well here are some pictures of the last year cup in Germany
Saturday it was the EU day and it is the only day of the year that all the European Institutions are open to the public. I was very interested in this day, specially since I am doing my masters in European Business.
This was also the first time I was in Belgium during this special day, the two previous years I was traveling.
I was only able to see the European Commission and the European Parlament, I had no time to visit the other buildings, but maybe next year...
The other day I got a invitation from the embassy of Azerbaijan in order to go to a concert to celebrate their independence. I do not know why I got this invitation but I went anyway.
The concert was amazing, the orchestra is mainly of children and they are amazing, they play like real professionals.
This was the second time I saw a live orchestra and I am starting to like it...
On Saturday I was walking on the center of Brussels and then I saw that one of the main streets of the city was closed, so I just went to see what was happening and I saw that there was a parade the Belgian Gay Pride parade.
It was the first time I saw the parade and it was an interesting experience. Everybody there was so relax and just enjoying the event.
I am happy that I experience the Gay Pride parade this weekend.
Here is the post about my trip to Turkey... Visiting Turkey was a great experience and in a way change the perspective I had from the country.
I think living in the Turkish neighbourhood in Belgium influenced me to have a bad stereotype of Turkey. The country has so many historical places that I did not knew where in Turkey, I was able to discover some during my trip but not all.... (this means I need to go back)
Also the trip was very relaxing, I went to the south of Turkey next to the Mediterranean Sea and I just relax and enjoy :) I uploaded some of the pics on my facebook photo album
Yesterday night I came back to Belgium after my trip to Turkey and now it is time to get back to work and also it is time to study for my exams and time to write my thesis... So it will be a busy times... but I like to be busy.
I am now just very happy after this last two months, I travelled to 3 continents and to 4 different countries :)
I do not know when the next trip will be but I hope it will not take to long to find out...
This week has been a very tiring one... since I am back from Egypt I have been sick and it really sucks.... I can not work and I do not have energy to do anything. Even my mind is some where else, for example today in the morning I was going to work and I was taking the bus and just before getting inside the bus I realized that I forgot my wallet at home... so I needed to come back home to pick it and then go to work...
But I am getting better by drinking medicine and all that stuff, I hope that tomorrow I will be again normal.
After a very intense week of tourism I am back in Belgium. Egypt was a great experience, I always wanted to see all those places I read in history class.
The trip was great but just a bit intense, I only had 6 days to see as many things as possible so I waked up very early every day in order to see a lot of things and also in order to save time I was traveling from one place to another by night. I think I slept like 10 hours during the whole trip, but it was worth it.
Now is again time to get use to normal life, but only for a while the next trip is in one week... Turkey
In a few minutes I am leaving my house in order to go to Egypt! (first I need to go and sleep in the airport since my flight is leaving at 6 am and there is no train to go there so early)
This weekend besides having lots of fun and doing many interesting things, I also had some amazing food :)
Michelle cooked chicken wings and lentels Mussels, typical Belgian food Hot Pot, typical chineese tradition where you boiled the food in the pot on table and then you eat it Hot Pot doing his job, boiling food
I hope that all the weekends I can have such amazing food like these :)
I just came back from seeing U2 3D movie/concert. It was a nice experience and it made me create a new goal for my life, I will like to see a concert of U2 live.
I really recommend everybody to see this show, even if you are not a U2 fan, the 3D effect really creates a feeling of being there in the concert.
It is already Monday morning but I still have in my memory the great weekend I had.
I had everything you can do in a weekend... parties, cultural activities, good food... an amazing time.
Saturday I went to the Opera "La Boheme" (it was not live Opera, it was in the cinema where they transmited the show from the Metropolitan Opera in New York live, I think this is a great idea, you can see more about it HERE).
Sunday I went to Antwerp to see Cirque du Solei- Delirium, the show was amazing, one of the best ones I have ever seen. I think what make is so special is the visual effects that they create.
Also while waiting for the show I went to eat Dimsum and I visited the aquarium.
Yesterday I was waiting for the tram station waiting for the tram to come and I was thinking that I am not using my Iphone camera a lot, so I decided that I will try to post some pictures of the things I see in my blog.
That way I can use my Iphone camera and also update my blog more often. Here is my first picture
I just came back from one of the more amazing trips I have ever had in my life.
Morocco is a very interesting country with lots of interesting things to do and visit.
Shopping there is an amazing experience, you need to bargain for everything.... I personally do not like bargaining but it is fun to do it from time to time.
Something that I really liked was the food, they have really amazing dishes and in a way it remind me of mexican food (mainly for the spicy things). They have a lot of fruits and something that I really loved was that you could drink fresh orange juice almost for free. (Not like in Belgium where a glass of juice cost around 3 euros)
It was the first time I was in North Africa and I can say that it is completely different to the other places I have been in Africa.
I will upload pictures and more stories about the trip soon
Today was a very strange day.... everything started in the morning when I was waiting almost 20 minutes for my bus in order to go home, so for that reason I arrived late to the office. Then I found out that the buses in Brussels went on strike, so the whole transportation system was a huge mess.
Also I needed to pick up my new passport today, so during my lunch break I went to the Mexican embassy, normally it takes 40 min. to go there both ways, but this time took me almost 2 hours.., to come back I manage to take one bus but it was very crowded, I think that around 120 people was in the bus...
Then later in the office the fire alarm went on and we had to evacuate the building... it was a simulation but it was the first time I had a fire simulation in long time (I think the last one was when I was at elementary school). I took a picture of people going out of the office with my phone.
At the end of the day after having dinner I had no bus to come back home so I walked for 20 min to get back home...
Life is complicated when public transportation gets crazy, I hope tomorrow everything gets back to normal.
I just came back from Spain and it was again a great experience, Spain is the most similar country in Europe to Mexico, so in a way was a bit like being back home. I also went to a very nice Mexican restaurant, I think it is the best one I have been in Europe.
The purpose of this trip was not to go and walk like crazy doing some sight seeing, the whole trip for me was to get to know better some friends and also to visit some old friends and I think I achieved this objective.
4 years ago I was studying and living in Germany, I remember that I just had came back from Spain from an AIESEC conference...
I was checking my mails and I remember reading the news that there was a terrorist attack in Madrid, in the same place I had been just a few days ago...
I remember some of the delegates were trying to get in touch with each other because we were not sure if no AIESEC member was in Madrid at that time.
Wow... time passes so far, all of those events seemed like yesterday... now after 4 years I am going back to Spain, I am going to pass the weekend in Madrid :)
I am sure I will have a great time there and also I am looking forward to see some old friends that I have not seen in a while.
The picture on this post is from EuroLDS, nice memories :)
I am again on that part of the year when I need to start thinking on what to do next in my life...
On the past few days my head has been full of ideas of things that I would like to do with my life.
Well the good thing is that I do not need to worry so much for what to do for the next six months, since I got my contract extended, so this means that I will be working at ABN AMRO until September :) and the next months will be very interesting and intense with all the changes that will happen with the merger of the bank.
As I mention on my last post this week was supposed to be very crazy and in fact it was... to my even busy agenda some more urgent tasks were added.
But luckly the week is over now :) Now it is time to relax and to enjoy the weekend. I still need to do some stuff for school during the weekend, but it is not so urgent.
but I think it is only the looks because I really suck at snowboarding. This weekend was the second time I did it and I think snow sports are not for my thing.
Yesterday I went to my first professional tennis match and it was a very nice game, I also think that tennis is a special sport. I compared it with other professional sports I have attended and I think that it is a very relax athmosphere if you are an expectator, you just clap after the play is over and you need to be quiet for most of the game.
Here is a report of the game:
Frenchman Michael Llodra defeated comeback boy Robin Soderling of Sweden in a three-set thriller to win the 824,000-euro ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on Sunday.
This was the second ATP title of the season for 58th-ranked Llodra, who also won in Adelaide, Australia in January. Only world No. 10 Andy Murray of Britain matched his performance this season.
It took Llodra 2 hours and eight minutes to beat 59th-ranked Soderling, who is on a comeback after being sidelined for six months by a left wrist injury. Llodra won 6-7 (3), 6-3, 7-6 (4). It has been a dream week for Llodra, who is also good at doubles winning the Wimbledon doubles title last year and reaching the Australian Open doubles final last January. Soderling, who was in only his second tournament after his comeback last week, was playing in his sixth ATP final. He had won two titles in his career, the last one in Milan in 2005.
Well it is weekend again and I am looking forward for a very nice one.
I am going skiing in The Netherlands, yes you read it right in The Netherlands, there is a huge indoor ski place there. I have been there before so this will be my second time there, I just hope to manage do some skiing, last time I was mostly on the snow...
Also on Sunday I am going to Rotterdam I have tickets for the ABN AMRO Tennis tournament, the final is on Sunday so I got tickets for the match, I have never been in a tennis match before so I guess it will be a nice experience. Pictures and all that stuff on my next post.
I just came back from Scotland and I can say that I had an amazing time there.
The country is very pretty, there are so many things to do and to see, also the country is full of history, so many castles and battles fields that just to be able to be in such historic places is priceless (I just sound like a mastercard add). I also went to Loch Ness, where Nessy is supposed to be living, but unfortunatelly I was not able to see her...
The whole trip was perfect and I enjoy it so much, even the terrible experience of flying from Brussels Charleroi Airport, there is a new terminal that is very cool and it makes it fell like a normal airport.
I have been studying in Europe for almost 3 years now and I can say that every time I interact with some professors for some problem, I am very disappointed...
I have the impression that professors in Europe think that they are the coolest persons in the world and they are not open to new ideas.... I also have the impression that they are thinking like they are making me a favour just to be in his class.
Currently I have some troubles with one of the classes that I need to attend, they plan the timing of the class in the mornings and since I am working I can not attend the class. The worst is that people in the student administration knew that some students work during the day, but still they plan the class in the morning… I have tried to talk with the professor and also the responsible of my master program, but nothing has happen, they say it is your problem and you should solve it... (like it is so easy to skip work)
Maybe it is different cultures or just different ways of thinking but in Mexico when I was studying, students have rights and we can talk to professors and people and they are willing to help you. I remember a case when one student needed to attend the class and the original class schedule was overlapping with his schedule, so in order to solve the problem they changed the class timing in order to fit everybody’s needs.
Anyway I do not think that will happen in Belgium but I hope the problem is solved soon...
Today I went to see for the first time a classical music concert and I can say that it was a great experience, maybe it was very special because I saw the Mexico National Orchestra and they played some mexican songs and it is always nice to hear some mexican music.
I was searching on youtube and I found this video of one of the presentations of their European Tour, just take a look and you will see what I am talking about (maybe in the next days they will upload the video of the concert in Belgium, so I will put it here too)
It is finally weekend :) and like most of my weekends it will be a busy weekend.
There are so many things happening this weekend: parties, trips, carnival, concerts....
Anyway this weekend I will travel to Luxemburg on Saturday and on Sunday I will go to the concert of the Mexican National orchestra.... also this weekend is the Super Bowl Sunday!!, when I was in Mexico it used to be one of my favorite days of the year, but since football is not popular in Europe, nobody cares about the game. (I have already posted some thoughts about this on the past)
This year the SuperBowl will be played between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. I am pretty sure it will be an amazing game specially since it will be the first time that one team can finish the season unbeaten.
I will try to see the game online via some of the P2P streaming sites (I just need to figure out how to make it work on a mac OS).
So for all historical reasons on this SuperBowl I am supporting the New England Patroits :)
After almost month month of getting ready for the exams, I finally finish my exams... obviously I was not stuying for a whole month, but I started reading stuff almost one month ago, it is very hard to mix a full time job with a masters program.
Anyway the exams are over now and I just need to wait for the results.... I am used to not have such high expectations for the results, because the more high expectations the harder it is if you do not have good grades, so my theory is to expect for the worst and hope for the best...
The weekend is once again over and like most of the weekends it has been a very nice ones, this weekend was crazy.... going to the hospital, study for exams next week, nice dinners, nice Cameroonian lunch (poisson), trying to find a way to see the NFL playoffs...
I know I have said this to many times... weekends should be a relaxing time but not for me...
Life is getting back to normal at work and most of my collegues are back in the office, so work is again starting to get interesting :)
Also I had a great weekend, I went Ice Skating, I do not remember the last time I went skating but it was long time ago... also it was nice to see a lot of old friends and had the opportunity to catch up with them. This picture is me ice skating :)
The bad thing of the weekend is that internet is not working in my house anymore :( , but I hope the problem will be solved soon, I wanted to put some pictures and some comments in my blog but since there is no internet there is no blog.
Well 2007 is over and I can say it was a nice year.
Lots of things happen this year, I finish my AIESEC leadership possition (and to close my AIESEC life we won the UBS Excellence Award), started my first real job, I travel to 5 new countries (Ireland, Sweden, South Africa, Greece, Denmark), I went to a RealAcad camp in Stanford....
So many things and so many memories... 2007 was a very good year and I hope that 2008 can be even a better one
Yesterday we had our Christmas dinner and like I was expecting, it was a very nice night. The people that was there yesterday there was great and I am happy that I shared the Christmas eve with them. We had so much food and everything was amazing... THANK YOU GUYS FOR BEING THERE YESTERDAY.
I also helped cooked my first turkey and it was very tasty.
Today is Christmas and i did nothing special, just stay home and study... I was a bit sad and homesick today, days like today you are supposed to be with your family... anyway nobody said it was easy to be living on the other side of the world far away from home...
Tomorrow is another day and I am looking forward to it...
Well we are almost in Christmas and it is supposed to be a relaxing time for most of the people, but it is not for me.... besides work I need to start getting ready for my exams in January. I will have exams for classes I have never been in.... that is what makes the whole exam thing a bit more complicated.
Anyway I started studying this weekend and also during the Christmas break I will do some more studying.
So tomorrow is Christmas eve, it will be my 3rd Xmas that i am not with my family but tomorrow will be special Christmas eve, I will celebrate it with people from all around the world. We will be around 20 people from all the continents... and everybody will cook typical Christmas food from their countries... I do not cook but I will try to help to cook the turkey.
ps. The picture in this post is a picture of my working in the office with Jean "the sheep"
This weekend I had a lot of Xmas parties, so I am starting to get in the Christmas mood, this year I will stay in Belgium, so I am also starting to plan what do on Christmas Eve...
Also during next week I will start looking for some Christmas presents :)
Today I had a very nice surprise I was going to the movies to see just another movie, nothing special... and then we saw lots of decoration for the premier of Bee Movie, the whole cinema was full of decoration.
We saw lots of cameras following a person, so we followed and then I saw Jerry Seinfeld, I could not belive it... I love his TV show and he was there just infront of me... I wanted to get an autograph but I had nothing for him to write... after that we went to see the premier of the movie and it was nice, Jerry made presentation before the movie it was great.
What I learned today is that when you less expect it, something special might happen to you... Also the movie is great, you should see it :)
I am back in Belgium after my amazing holidays in Greece :)
I had so much fun in Greece and it was all what I expected from the country.
The food and the people are amazing, also in a way it remind me of Mexico....
Anyway now I am to tired (I almost traveled for 9 hours today) and I have not energy to download my pictures from the camera but I will do it on the next days.
Thanks a lot Makis and Juliana for hosting me in your houses :) while I was in Greece
I wanted to go to Greece since long time ago (almost 10 years, the first time I wanted to go to Greece was just after my CISV camp in 1996), but I never found the right moment to go, but I finally found the good moment...
It will be a great small holiday... and a nice get away from my busy life here in Brussels.
BTW lately I have not been blogging so often, it is mainly because I have been so busy that I have not find the right moment to blog, lots of things have happen in my life so I will try to update you after my trip to Greece.
Well this weekend was NTMS, it was nice to go again to an AIESEC conference and it was great just to be there for having fun and not have to worry for sessions or work....
I only went for the party on Saturday and it was a very nice party, the best part was that I was avail to see some old friends and also to get my faced painted in green... (as you can see in the picture).
Also I think after the party and the weekend I got a bit sick, the weather in Belgium is horrible, it is very cold and rainy... I guess it is winter time...
Well as some of you know in one of my last post I mention that I was missing AIESEC, so in order to deal with it, I decided to get a bit more involved in AIESEC activities and as part of that I went today to Futura, the campus recruitment program of one of the LCs here.
I was there in order to talk about the exchange program and to convince people to join AIESEC, I had so much fun and I really enjoyed talking about AIESEC with the people and to convinced that joining is one of their best decisions in their life. I think I convinced at least 10 people to join AIESEC :)
The evening was great also because I saw some old AIESEC friends and I was able to talk with them.
I hope things can continue like this and that way it will help me deal with the whole missing AIESEC part of my life...
This weekend as most of my weekends lately was great :)
All started friday when I went to the a concert of Arcade Fire, I never heard the group before but I heard from a lot of people that they are great and to be honest they were right, the band is great, in fact I am listening to them while writing this post.
On Saturday I went to Brugge, I have been in Brugge lots of times but this trip was great, I went with a great group of people and we had a lot of fun, we also took a boat trip there :)
Today I did something that I have never done before, I went to an Indian temple, it was a great experience and it help me understand more about the different religions, also at the end of the ceremony we had indian food and it was great, in a way it brought me memories of my trip to India.
Well that is my small update of the weekend... and now it is time to start a new week :)
