This is the last update from South Africa, tomorrow I go back to Belgium :(
Well today I went to Table Mountain, you might be thinking why is it called Table Mountain but the reason of that is that it looks like a table, you can see it on the picture and judge it by yourself...
The mountain is great, you have spectacular views from up there...
After the trip to the mountain, we went to the Waterfront just to relax and enjoy our last day in Cape Town.
I went to the aquarium and also I went to cut my hair, it was more cheaper than in Belgium. You might be wondering why I am all the time writing in plural (we went to...), well during my trip here in Cape Town I am together with a Greek girl, her name is Santi and she is doing an internship in Nigeria, she was also delegate at AfroXLDS, she has been my travel buddy for this last days and I can say we had lots of fun...
Here is my latest update from South Africa, well the things here keep getting better and better :) .
As I mention on my last post today I went to Cape of Good Hope and it was great, the tour I took was the best I have ever taken in my life, it is a whole day bus but they take you all around the peninsula.
I saw an island full of seals... I discover that there are penguins in South Africa (I thought penguins were only in snow, but no...)
Then during the tour we took a bicycle tour and it was great :)
Then we went to the Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope and it was great, it was very windy but the experience is amazing (Cape Point is the second windiest place in the world and the winds were around 70 kilometers per hour).
I took so many pictures and I will upload the best ones to my flickr... This day was amazing! I really love South Africa (I want to stay here forever)
I am in Cape Town and I can say it is a great city. Today I went to Robben Island, the waterfront, the beach... and I love it.
I do not feel like being in Africa, this city seems like a European city. Well tomorrow I will go to the Cape of Good Hope, it is where the Pacific and the Indic ocean get together, I remember when I was in high school in my geography class we talked some classes about the Cape of Good Hope (I can not believe that I will be there tomorrow).
This picture is of a Belgian food restaurant here in Cape Town, I was very surprised to see it since in all my trips I have never seen a Belgian restaurant. BTW I also find a Mexican restaurant, but I guess every town in the world has one so I did not took a picture...
Well AfroXLDS finished today and you might be wondering why you did not received any update until now, well here is the last update, the last 2 days of the conference we had no electricity (yes you read it right no electricity), so this means no internet, no hot water, no ppt, no music…
It was a big challenge especially for the faci team but they managed it well. Yesterday we had the official dinner (we had two official dinners in this conference one only for a few people outside the site and the one yesterday for everybody) it was a great event and also a great party, people was looking beautiful and everybody got dressed in the darkness, quoting Habib speech “Africa people is beautiful…” The conference finish with a great atmosphere (besides all the outside AIESEC problems), I still do not know if this was my last AIESEC international conference or not, now I am very confused, on the next days I will try to think what to do next…
Well since the lady that sells the internet is not around, we have free internet in the site :)
So here is another update of what is happening in South Africa...
South African night.- It was a nice evening but I was expecting to see more about this beautiful country but we just saw a dance and have some typical food.
South African party night.- It was great :) the party started very late 2 am but it was very good
Today was a more relax day, we started with a sleep in and then with a soccer match of Expros vs LDS, unfortunately to the Expros delegates we lose the game :(
The evening is going fine with lots of AIESEC skills workshops
To end the day we will finish with the one item party, for the ones that do not understand this party concept it is a party were you can only take one piece of clothing.
Well the conference is going well and it is starting to get a very special rhythm...
The first two days of the conference we were having some reflections and we learn more about ourselves.
Yesterday we had the official dinner, the dinner was great one of the best official dinners I have been in my long AIESEC life, food was great and also the speeches of the alumni present were great.
Today we are talking about what will AIESEC be doing next year (it makes me think if I really want to leave this organization or not). Also we will have the South African night tonight, I think it will be very cool.
I will try to post a new update in the next days, but I never know when Internet will be working or not...
I am in South Africa and it is great here, it is very different from my experience in Cameroon.
Well I have been in a Safari yesterday and it was great, but unfortunatelly a giraffe was running after me and I drop my camera and it died :( . I just got a new camera, so pics will be uploaded soon.
Well have a nice day and I will try to post something else when I have more time...
Tomorrow I go to Mons for OPS and after that I go to South Africa... Today I have been very stress and busy since I need to finish everything before the conference and before leaving but all day I had this song in my mind...
Well I have always had in my mind that I have two worlds, one world that is in Mexico with my family and another world here in Europe, living alone.
Well last week both of my worlds got together, my uncle came to visit me in Brussels, it was the first time in my 1.6 months of living in Belgium that somebody from my family came to visit.
It was a strange but also very nice, I like giving small tours around Brussels and also around Belgium (I really like this country and I consider it as my second home).
It was nice to have a member of my family here and I hope it the future more people will come and visit me here, maybe someday my both worlds will become one....
It is Sunday night and you do not need to be very cleaver to know that this means that the weekend is over.
This weekend was my last free weekend in the next month (next weekend I have OPS, the next two I will be in South Africa and the next one I have a Belgian conference). So what I tried to do was just relax, I had a nice Friday going for a dinner and then the movie, Saturday just relax during the day and party in the night, Sunday again relax day and then a movie.
Next week is going to be very busy, but I think life will be very bored if I had nothing to do...
I applied for tickets for the UEFA Champions League final and again the same story as for the World Cup tickets, I was not selected in the lotery they organize to give tickets :(
Well maybe next year I have more luck, here is the mail i received from them...
Dear Football Supporter, We are sorry to inform you that, as a result of the lottery process, your ticket Application with the Booking ID: 38386 for the UEFA Champions League Final 2007 has not been successful. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in European football and to invite you to log onto uefa.com to keep up-to-date with the latest news on the UEFA Champions League. Best regards,
Well it is that time of the year again , when you need to start thinking about your future
I have too many things in my head, like what to do next year, my personal life, my future....
Besides all that I am full of work, this time of the year is very busy, I have Review Boards every week, planning the OPS, new interns coming, new forms to upload, etc. and also I have school. Besides all that I need to leave all my work done before going to South Africa. I will be there attending AfroXLDS, this will be my second conference in Africa, I am really looking forward for it, it might also be my last AIESEC international conference..... well you never know.
Yesterday I went with Makis to the JADE presidents meeting official dinner. For the ones that does not know what JADE is, it is a NGO that promotes junior enterprises. More information HERE.
They have their presidents meeting here in Brussels and people from all over europe is here. The dinner yesterday was very nice, it was strange to be in an international environment and not be in an AIESEC conference. (I guess life will be like this when I leave AIESEC).
The party was nice but not as crazy as an AIESEC party....
Something that I noticed is that during international events, most of the time I hang out with the spanish people, I do not know if it is because we have some common cultural points... anyway yesterday we hang out with the Spanish delegation. It was a nice evening and here you can see some pics
